I always look forward to Pitti.

The myriad of exhibitors and events are stunning, but what excites me the most is Florence. The birthplace of the Renaissance may be my most favourite city in Europe.

I start my morning by walking over the Ponte Vecchio. Here, the vendors have been sweeping their entries and preparing for the day unchanged since medieval times. In winter the morning sun rises around Ponte Vecchio in a way that creates the most spectacular views.

I head over to Gilli for a morning coffee and fresh orange juice. Gilli is Florence's oldest cafe, now over 270 years old.

Pitti Uomo is held in the Fortezzo da Basso. Given that Florence isn't that large, it allows you to walk almost everywhere. And there’s something special about joining your colleagues along the picturesque walk to Pitti.

After a day of meetings, it's time to catch up with friends for a cocktail. A favourite of mine is Locale, particularly their summertime rooftop. Not only do they make the most incredible cocktails, but it's located in one of the former Medici homes. Waiting for a table is the perfect opportunity to request a tour. As they take you through the basement, have a good look, this was once street level. See pics below!

Check back next week.

We’ll be sharing highlights from Pitti Uomo!
