Generally, everyone has their own method of packing their travel must-haves. It comes through experience, advice, and most likely - doing it wrong several times over. Whether you're travelling to a nearby spot for a short getaway or venturing far onto another continent, having a packing list of essentials is well..essential.

If you're like us, you can't just throw a bunch of items into a bag and hope it all works itself out. With limited space in your luggage, it's difficult to pack all the things you 'need'. Including those items for the 'what-if' scenarios, and those insta-moments that must be captured. Your bags fill up too quickly. Disorganized, you're questioning if you've packed all your actual necessities with you! But it doesn't need to be this hard, and packing/selecting your essentials shouldn't feel like an obstacle.

We've created our list of travel must-haves, based on our collective experiences, focusing on the utter-most essentials that are convenient for any destination.  Here's to making packing a little less troublesome, and a lot faster..

Choose the right Luggage

Choosing the right luggage for your trip is the first order of business. And when we mean the right luggage, take into consideration the size, security, and quality of the luggage. There's nothing more inconvenient than travelling with a broken zipper or missing wheel.

Choose a piece of luggage that is secure and is easy to handle from all angles. It's often preferential with hard or soft-fabric luggages, but it is widely accepted within avid-travellers alike that hard-surfaced, no-zipper luggages are your best bet when it comes to protecting your essentials.

It doesn't hurt to select a piece that allows for customization, making it ever so easy to find whether in the overhead compartment or coming around the baggage carousel. As well as quality-made, making it an investment to last a lifetime.

Travellers Guide

Having a trusty guide on hand is never a bad idea to include in your list of essentials. You'll find these guides are written from travellers too, often suggesting renowned attraction you can easily find online, to the more hidden restaurants and activities only found by experience. Choose a physical copy of the guide to avoid the many tech-problems of today such as battery life and a poor connection.  Not to mention, a great read for the plane or car ride ahead.

Sleeping Mask

One of the biggest qualms when travelling is that it can be very exhausting in itself. Do yourself a huge favour by packing a sleeping mask as a part of your travel must haves. Getting adequate sleep during your travels is the necessity.

Packing a sleeping mask will help you get proper shut-eye and rest, whether it be on the plane or in your resort room, you can expect an uninterrupted sleep. And a silk-piece will ensure you maintain your anti-wrinkle/anti-aging regime.

Water Bottle

Staying hydrated and packing a water bottle is no doubt an essential when travelling. We all know that water bottles become very costly overtime, and with it's single-use purpose, adds to the growing plastic pollution globally. To get the best use of it, opt for a compact water bottle that is slim enough to snug in a pocket and has the intent to be reusable - which happens to be free of harmful chemicals.  Look for products that have additional benefits, like memobottle who's purchase gives clean drinking water to one person for two months.

Note: Dehydration is a major cause of jet lag.  When flying, it's recommended to drink 8 ounces (or about 250 ml) of water for every hour your airborne.  And feel free to skip the little plastic cups and request a refill directly into your water bottle.

Skincare Regimen

When it comes to your skincare regimen and the limiting restrictions on carry-on liquids, bringing high quality, small, all-purpose skincare products is part of your packing essentials. Having to do your skincare routine on-the-go means not having to disrupt your daily routine. More importantly, they must be easy to use, undo the drying effects of travel as they occur, and ensure you arrive looking fresh. Potency is key.

Be sure to avoid skincare that has negative affects when in sunlight (such as retinol).  And, if airborne, use SPF.  When we fly, we're usually about 20,000 ft closer to the ozone layer - and therefore, closer to the sun and it's damaging rays.  If sitting near a window, apply SPF or close the shades to avoid exposure.

Pollution Mask

Airports are an amazing hub that bridges people from across the globe. However with it comes to increased exposures to a serious bug, viruses, or simply germs as a whole - a mask is an easy solution. Fast becoming a fashion statement on it's own, masks are seen more commonly in everyday walks of life, especially true when travelling around the world.

Cozy Clothing

Comfort is a top priority when packing for your travel essentials. A classic black hoodie can be effortlessly worn with just as comfortable joggers, complete with..anything you choose to wear for shoes.  Not to mention, easy staples to integrate when you've arrived at your destination.

Choose clothing (and minimize accessories) that will make travelling to your destination effortless. No extra buttons, belts, and pockets to be concerned about when going through security or trying to get some shut eye.

With a little planning, listing, and research, you'll avoid the overwhelming situation of ensuring you pack all essentials, making the trip itself a little more relaxing. Who wouldn't want that?
